Aamir Rizvi’s latest single “Over” is depth lyrics perfectly blended with melodies that’ll take you back to your teenage years.

We did an interview with the artist over a cup of coffee about this latest release, here’s what they had to say!

Tell us about your track

Over is about teen angst eventually leading to mistakes that can’t be taken back. Miscommunication and lost feelings leading to lies and breakups and eventually, tears and self harm.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

I wrote the track Over after I realized that sometimes after giving you’re everything to make something work, things don’t always go our way, that is the depressing reality and through this song, I learnt to embrace that. The song is also about a friend who was going through a similar situation as me at the same time. The entire point of the song while composing it was to make the modern listener realize that the definition of love amongst the younger generation is dying. The concept that Rfaraz and I that we have to tried to focus on is abstract love.

How long did it take to record the track album EP ?

Rfaraz is from Toronto, Canada and I’m currently in Kolkata, India. As brothers, it’s always been easier to work together but this was the first time that we went ahead with the idea of putting out an original. We started the recording process in September and finished the track by November.

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

The lyrics aren’t random but very real. They are experiences that I or someone very close to me has lived through. In the 4 years of my songwriting career, I have always wanted to tell stories through my tunes/lyrics and not make anything sound artificial.

What brings next after this release?

My next song is set for release in April, 2023. New music with Rfaraz is already in the works and some of it is even ready. My duo Raiko & Rizvi is coming out with an album sometime in 2023. The plan for 2023 is to bring back my recording persona. My listeners are aware that “Over” is not really my genre, its an experiment, a challenge really. In 2023, I bring back my acoustic sounding ballads with a tinge of indie in each song.
