“Deafening Silence” by Vivek Chavan is inspired by Adam Melchor and Bruno Major which talks about the emptiness one feels about someone they love.

Deafening Silence is based on the experience of wanting for someone in the actual world but being unable to change it. I tried to examine this feeling from all perspectives while composing the song, including the good, the bad, and the grey, and the song definitely contrasts all of those emotions. I made a lot of effort to get the raw, comfortable, and intimate atmosphere I was going for sonically by drawing inspiration from some of my favourite musicians, such Adam Melchor and Bruno Major. ‘Deafening Silence’ is a moving acoustic ballad with poetic honesty, fascinating lyricism, and sumptuous harmonies that transforms loneliness and longing for love into a soothing blanket of words and melody.

We did an interview with the artist over a cup of coffee about this latest release, here’s what they had to say!

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

Deafening Silence is inspired by a real life experience of feeling longing for a person while you’re incapable of doing anything about it. While writing the song, I tried to explore this feeling from all angles, the good, the bad and the grey, and song definitely is at the juxtaposition of all of those feelings. Sonically, I was looking for a raw, intimate and a cozy ambiance, and so a lot of the effort in that direction was inspired by some of my favourite artists like Adam Melchor and Bruno Major.

How long did it take to record the track album EP ?

I started writing the song in December of 2021 and then I didn’t touch it for about two months. By the end of February of this year I picked it up again, it took me a while to finish writing it, which was by April. I then dove into production and the song was ready by June.

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

The lyrics go into tiny details of the memories I have of this person, and how they kept coming up and meant different things as time went by.

What brings next after this release?

I turned 23 last November. I wrote a song on my birthday called 23. I initially didn’t write it to put it out, it was just for me and what I was going through. But looking back at it now, I’ve decided to finish the song and release it, hopefully before my next birthday.
