“Destroyer” by Bodhi and the Omega Force: A Guitar-Driven Mythological Meltdown

Kolkata—a city of vibrant chaos, soulful music, and electric street food—just birthed a rock juggernaut that’s all set to raze evil and raise consciousness. Introducing Bodhi and the Omega Force, a supergroup of seasoned musicians led by the jazz fusion veteran Bodhisattwa Ghosh, who is now exploring his long-buried love for rock and roll. Their debut track, “Destroyer”, drops on November 6, with a music video hot on its heels the next day. And, trust us, you’ve never experienced a headbang quite like this!

The inspiration for “Destroyer” didn’t come from the typical sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll clichés. Instead, it’s a homage to Lord Shiva, the ultimate cosmic bouncer who wipes out evil to make way for new beginnings. In this instrumental piece, Ghosh swaps the human voice for the electric guitar, channeling legends like Eddie Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix but with a heavy dose of spiritual intensity.

The song merges intricate Indian classical elements with heavy metal grit. “I drew inspiration from Raga Bhairav and Bhairavi,” says Ghosh. “The idea was to capture the duality of darkness and hope, something that reflects in the mythological cycle of destruction and creation.” It’s a prayer you can mosh to!

Meet the Rock Gods of Kolkata

This isn’t a one-man show. Mainak “Bumpy” Nag Chowdhury slaps the bass like he’s warding off evil spirits, while Gaurab “Gaboo” Chatterjee hammers the drums like he’s summoning thunder. Subhagata Singha, the multi-talented guitarist and keyboardist, ties everything together, creating a rich, sonic tapestry that is equal parts soulful and bone-crushing.

A Video to Knock Your Socks Off

Directed by the visual sorcerer Shan Bhattacharya, the music video explores themes of renewal and apocalypse. Imagine a kaleidoscope of colors, lightning-fast guitar solos, and a band that looks ready to fight demons—it’s basically an action movie for your ears and eyes.

The Future is Rock

Bodhi and the Omega Force are gearing up to take India by storm. They have a lineup of singles ready to roll out, with plans to dominate the live circuit and rock festivals nationwide. Their second track, “Vortex,” promises to add vocals into the mix and is slated for release in early 2025.

So grab your headphones and get ready to experience the “Destroyer.” After all, who knew the apocalypse could sound this good?
