“Ehi Thaiyaan” by Samahita Narang is classical chaiti and is rendered in a modern way, a song which grabs the listeners’ attention.

We did an interview with the artist over a cup of coffee about this latest release, here’s what they had to say!

Tell us about your track

Ehi Thaiyaan is an old Indian classical chaiti that I learnt from my guru. I rendered it in a modern way so that more and more people can connect with it. This song is about finding yourself and about knowing that whatever you need is inside you.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

I learnt this from my guru many years back and it has stuck with me since then. Indian classical music is somewhere getting lost and I really want people to listen to the beauty and depth of it. That’s why I released song lile Ehi Thaiyaan and Matwari with a modern twist so that more and more people can connect with it.

How long did it take to record the track album EP ?

I started producing this song in 2019!! But I wasn’t sure if wanted to release it at all. But in 2022 I thought let’s give it a shot so I got in touch with a producer friend and he really brought life to the track. So properly it took 3 months I would say.

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

So, the lyrics are in bhojpuri. The meaning is that a newly married lady looses diamond of her nose ring and she’s trying to find that all over the house. It was given to her by her husband. For this song has a completely different meaning. It’s when you try to find something outside but it’s always within you if you look deep inside. Basically a journey of finding yourself.

What brings next after this release?

A lot more songs!!!! I have another folk song lined up for next gear beginning!
