Ishan Krishan’s “Soja” is your new melancholy lullaby you can sing to sleep in peace. Listen Now

Tell us about your track

The journey of ‘Soja’ began one morning at 5am, when I had an exhausting, yet sleepless night. I then took my guitar and played some chords that gave me peace, in the hope that the sweet sound of the guitar might make me fall asleep. With the same thought, without the intention of actually making a song, I came up with the following line: “kal phir se ik din, ik din ki shuruaat hogi, darr naa tu lekin, kal phir mulaqat hogi! Little did I know I would eventually end up writing an entire song and recording it in my phone’s recorder. I’m not sure if it was the exhaustion or the recording I listened to afterwards, but I ended up falling asleep. This is not a love song, not a heartbreak one. Neither a song to give you pleasure, nor to deliver pain. It’s all about PEACE; and all I intend to give anyone through this, is peace.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

My inspiration with my music has always been trying to touch people deeply, and make an impact in their lives. People always used to tell me they fell asleep listening to my live sessions or covers because they felt peaceful after listening to them. That’s when I thought of making a song to give peace to my listeners, take away their stresses and make them fall asleep.

How long did it take to record the track \album \EP ?

The entire process from the first scratch to the final recording and animation took around a month’s time, though the song came into existence a couple of months prior to that and I used to sing it for my audience on my Instagram live sessions.

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

The lyrics are probably the simplest part of the song. There is not a single complex word or phrase, and it tries to convey a very simple message. The entire point of the song was to give peace to listeners, and stop their minds from being restless with thoughts and stress. Hence, the lyrics are as simple as they could be.

What brings next after this release?

I have been working on more originals after Soja, and will be releasing them shorty. All I hope is that my songs make a difference in the lives of my listeners, and can connect with them deeply.
