Tell us about your track

Naapaaq Ishq is a modern pop song and a Pride anthem in its own capacity. An ode to the pride movement, Naapaaq Ishq was penned by JaeDee in 2019 inspired by stories of individuals whose identity is beyond gender, sexuality or any social parameters. The song is aimed at elevating the spirits of anyone in love no matter where they find themselves on the spectrum.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

I could never comprehend the fact that someone out there has to hide or behave differently to themselves because the world is not ready to accept them. This pain grows multiple folds for me when the same narrative is applied to love. I believe love and music are two things that don’t have a rule in particular. Hence, the line “Main unki tarah ishq karta nahi, yahi unki dikkat hai”.

How long did it take to record the track \album \EP ?

Naapaaq Ishq was written and composed in 2019 by Deepak Gupta and produced in 2022 by Shubham Kundu. The song has beautiful additions of electric guitar and other elements by the Bhargava brothers duo named O’ Daapun. I loved working with these guys. Shubham (@nahibro) has been producing my songs for a while now. I absolutely love working with him. Naapaaq Ishq is something we enjoyed creating, since the song varies from being a ballad to a fast paced pop and also has a rap-like verse. We got to experiment a lot. With O’Daapun, I have one more track coming this year and I absolutely can’t wait for the world to experience what we have created.

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

“Pehle kabhi kiya na tha, aisa mehsoos. Khud se puchta raha, if I am in the wrong shoes.” I personally feel this is the crux of all the moments that an individual goes through in the form of denial, acceptance and fighting back towards most of the challenges in the life. The second verse of Naapaq Ishq is where I feel, writer starts rising like a phoenix. “Dil mera bas karta hai, ishq ka likhdu naya kalma”, this is where it reaches conclusion, where one believes that only way to change things around is rewrite the rules around them.

What brings next after this release?

After Naapaaq Ishq, I have a very special track coming up which is sort of a tribute to the most important yet simplest word that exists, i.e Maa and person who holds this position in our life.
