Keydroid latest track “Neo-Gidda” is a power packed uplifting song with a touch of Punjabi Folk roots.

We did an interview with the artist over a cup of coffee about this latest release, here’s what they had to say!

Tell us about your track

The track is a melodious dance music with a very positive and uplifting modern vibe. A tight acoustic guitar rhythm, deep basslines along with popish English vocals sung by me and groovy beats with Punjabi dhols, giving the track a Neo- gritty and colourful vibe that would drive the audience to get-up and jive to the beat.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

During one of my travels I came across these young girls of theatre group practising a Gidda dance routine. Gidda an ancient Punjabi folk form that involves mundane life experiences through song and dance. Mesmerised by what I heard, ended up recording few of their verses back then. After days of experimentations with the recordings Neo-Gidda came to life.

How long did it take to record the track album EP ?

After about a week of failed attempts in arrangements , 2 weeks of final production, recording and mix/master

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

The track is inspired by a folk Gidda “Saun da Mahina” which celebrates the season of monsoon. But when I was producing the track the lyrics for me just transformed into ‘celebrating life’ as it comes and thats how I ended up fusing my vocals with english lyrics into the track.

What brings next after this release?

I am planning to release a couple of unique collaborations with some amazing singers in the next 2 months.
