Twesha Ghosh’s single “Khoyi” is a beautiful melancholy crafted witha taste of nostalgia which will surely reminiscence you of good memories.

We did an interview with the artist over a cup of coffee about this latest release, here’s what they had to say!

Tell us about your track

Khoyi is about the space that memories occupy in our hearts and the way in which we hold on to them though days pass. There is also a beautiful sense of space in the song which is introduced as soon as the song begins. There is sweet nostalgia, reminiscing and finally a surrender which leaves us with the peace and tranquility of an observer in the entire journey of life.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

I wrote this song during the pandemic. What truly inspired me to write this song is the time span and magnitude that memories have in our minds. What are these? How long do we hold on to them? And what happens when we wilfully surrender?

How long did it take to record the track album EP ?

It took me about 2-3 months to work on the track from start to finish. My guitar guru Bruce Lee Mani did the production of this song. However, I had written and composed the basic lyrics and tune almost a year ago.

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

The meaning is largely abstract. It is very open to interpretation. Different listeners will be reminded of different visuals from their experiences if one carefully listens to the song. ‘Khoyi’ in essence means lost and portrays how we stay lost in our memories while life goes on until one day we must submit to sweet surrender.

What brings next after this release?

So I’m also working on a couple of instrumental tracks which have very minimal or no lyrics and just kind of creates an atmosphere of sorts. Let’s see how it goes.
