“Wake up, you’re still here” latest EP by Aku-Ko is intended to promote a pro-social, non-judgemental and self affirming vibe grabbing the listeners attention.

We did an interview with the artist over a cup of coffee about this latest release, here’s what they had to say!

Tell us about your track

The track ‘Wake up, you are still here’ intends to impart a positive message at the start of the day. The subtle message being ‘you can always start again, no matter how lost you are in your path. Don’t worry you just need to wake up because you are still here. You’ve got this.’ It is an Alternative nostalgic 2000s track including styles of classic rock and alt-rock. The EP intends to promote a pro-social and peaceful feeling, something that is needed right now in our times. ‘The DI therapy’ is a conceptual album that musically narrates a day in the life of a person through 5 tracks serving as 5 chapters of the person’s day. The tracks will guide you through the journey of ‘The DI therapy’.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

The EP intends at creating a musical environment consisting of textures and events taking place. The music is intended to promote a pro-social, non-judgemental and self affirming vibe. In some of the tracks the drummer track is used as a ‘time keeper’ giving is a centre 0 for other tracks rather than an instrument. The music is for everyone to listen, without judgement. Just unfiltered acceptance of everyone and everything.

How long did it take to record the track album EP ?

The entire project took a year to be completely solidified. Some of the tracks were being released on Youtube for the listeners, however, the entire concept of the EP was sealed over a period of a year.

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

This conceptual album musically narrates a day in the life of a person through the 5 tracks serving as 5 chapters. The first track ‘Wake up, you are still here’ serves as a positive vibe at the start of the day imparting the feel that ‘you can always start again no matter how lost you are in your path. You are still here.’ The second track ‘Is it gonna rain?’ is a contemplation of how the day is gonna be. Whether good or bad. Even though it’s bad there is a sense of beauty to it. The third track ‘A walk around the lake’ starts with a walk after the rain has subsided and the land is dry. The walk introduces the person to the different beautiful elements of nature. The fourth track ‘The street track’ is a ‘badass’ healthy and positive attitude the person keeps in the streets, at night, in the city. The person is now more confident and able to face the challenges of the ‘big city’. The final track ‘The DI primordial soup’ is the depiction of the dream the person has after the end of the day encompassing all the elements of the day.

What brings next after this release?

The next EP has been successfully written and produced. It will be an electronic EP exploring genres such as Lofi as well as electronica with a touch of trap. The EP is expected to be released before November. So stay tuned.
