“Chhoti Si Baat” by Akshay is a minute of instrospection dealing with your inner demons that’ll heal your mental health

We did an interview with the artist over a cup of coffee about this latest release, here’s what they had to say!

Tell us about your track

Chhoti Si Baat is a song I wrote trying to find the words to describe what its like inside our minds when we are facing mental health issues. How its diificult to share with someone and how chaotic it can be. I’ve always found solace in songs whenever Im feeling low. So I wanted to put a song out that does the same for people facing mental health issues.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

I started writing this song 5 years back. I had written a few verses but couldn’t find the right words to find a good resolution to the song. I had kept this song aside for a while. Until one day, I was sitting with a bunch of work friends. And my ex-boss mentioned “We all mistake happiness for pleasure. Happiness is in moments such as these. When we are all sitting together, laughing and talking.” That’s when I knew I could finally find some solace in this song. I went back home and wrote the Chorus line – “Baaton Mein. Mulaaqaaton mein. Hai chuppi. Har khushi.”

How long did it take to record the track album EP ?

Oh boy! I started writing this song 5 years back. And I had put it aside for a while until one day, I was sitting with a bunch of work friends. And my ex-boss mentioned “We all mistake happiness for pleasure. Happiness is in moments such as these. When we are all sitting together, laughing and talking.”

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

The lyrics talk about different forms of mental issues, and how we keep them as scars that are hidden. Bottled up inside. As times progresses we become quieter. But our mind gets more and more stressed. The chorus line provides a hope with the insight that meeting and talking to your friends and family will always give you some happiness and thats a good starting point.

What brings next after this release?

Performing more. But long term. Recording my third EP as for a couple of years Ive only released 3 singles.
