Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber Sued for Copyright Infringement Over “10,000 Hours”

It feels like Dan + Shay are in for 10,000 complications.

Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber are named in a lawsuit filed Thursday over copyright infringement of their chart-topping hit “10,000 Hours.”
Folks reported that Worldwide Manufacturing Ideas, Melomega music and Sound Gems sued Bieber, Dan + Shay, and others as a result of similarities in “10,000 Hours” to the 1973 music “The First Time Child Is A Vacation,” written by Palmer Rakes and Frank Fioravanti.

The swimsuit states the boys “stole the core portion,” which incorporates the refrain, verse and hook from “The First Time Child Is A Vacation.” “The First Time Child Is A Vacation” was written in 1973, not registered till 1980, and was recorded in 2014 when it was re-registered as a result of they barely modified the music title.

“10,000 Hours,” which additionally contains co-writers Jessie Jo Dillon, Jordan Reynolds, and Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd, was launched in 2019 and is from Dan + Shay’s “Good Issues” album.

The swimsuit alleges there are “unmistakable similarities.”

Reps for Bieber and Dan + Shay didn’t instantly reply to Folks’s request for remark.
