Deep and Deval’s latest single “Saajna” is all about the goosebumps and butterflies in your belly when it comes to expressing love

We did an interview with the artist over a cup of coffee about this latest release, here’s what they had to say!

Tell us about your track

Saajna is a song that speaks for unspoken feelings. Everyone struggles with nervousness while confessing their love towards the other, yet it is exciting just like the feeling of “Butterflies in the belly.” There comes Saajna as a catalyst that lets you easily express matters of your heart. This song is all about expression.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

One fine day I realised that there is a playlist on Spotify for every Language except Gujarati Indie, living in Mumbai watching people vibing to songs that they don’t understand lyrically but still enjoy the melodies of songs like Natu Natu, Manike, Excuses, Pasoori, etc. I felt “Why aren’t there any Gujarati Independent songs that people find cool to listen to?” There started the process of making my first original song “Saajna” to contribute to making the language known for other music than just Garba.

How long did it take to record the track album EP ?

I composed the whole song in 2021 but the production and lyrics took shape in the end of 2022 with the help of my Mentor and big brother Siddhant Mishra as well as lyricist Medha Antani.

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

The song beautifully speaks about 2 personalites A guy who is an introvert and the girl who is completely opposite, yet they both are intimidated with by the feeling of expressing their love to eachother. But the guy dares and expresses what he feels and tries to convince her to not hold back and let the feelings out.

What brings next after this release?

I’m looking forward to release atleast a single every month. My melodies are my strong point and just focusing on creating experiences with them for the listeners.
