Once about to be called north star, “Blue” went through a lot of production and emotional phases.

Tell us about your track

“If winter comes, can spring be far behind?” Take that line, make it a lo-fi pop rock song, and that’s So Blue. A reggae melody in the air, dreamy tropical vibes in a lo-fi haze, shaken together with stardust and hope, So Blue is a beam of sunlight trying to make its way through, when you’re lost at sea. With this song, we, The Coconut Milk Project are pushing our imagination beyond the intimate ASMR harmonies and acoustic arrangements that we’d made our playground. We’re throwing the conversation open to lovers of groove, because sensitive lyrics do not just belong to dainty melodies anymore.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

We first wrote this song in 2019, and it was called North Star. At the time, it was about finding an anchor, about putting faith in another person to be one’s North Star. But we kept revisiting the song and figured that it was more about feelings than people, and So Blue evolved. The song is about feeling blue but hopeful.

How long did it take to record the track album EP ?

The whole production process took about 4 weeks (in the midst of broken bones and viral fevers)

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

It’s about finding hope even when we feel lost.

What brings next after this release?

We have a steady stream of singles planned for the next 8-12 months. And we’re looking to stay experimental for a few more.
