REJ’s single “Overdrive” is a chill rap with a flow so serious it’ll dwelve you into the realms of indian underground hip-hop

We did an interview with the artist over a cup of coffee about this latest release, here’s what they had to say!

Tell us about your track

‘Overdrive’ is my debut solo single. Sonically, I tap into the chill rap genre with a wavy flow and bars which I think would be one of the signature sounds of the Indian underground hip-hop scene going forward.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

‘Overdrive’ came to life when me and the @Fiv56ix.in crew went on a drive to the hills. The liberation and freedom we experienced during the getaway inspired me to create this juxtaposition between the life I manifest and the life I’m currently living.

How long did it take to record the track album EP ?

It only took a couple of hours to finish the track. The beat was made within an hour and vocals were recorded in two hours. It took another one hour for the mix and master. So about four hours in total.

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

It’s just a reminder to let loose and live free without caring too much about the responsibilities or repercussions.

What brings next after this release?

I’m working on my debut EP through which I aim to bring a new flavour to the Bangalore underground hip-hop scene.
