UJ’s “Laapata” addresses the uncertainties that come with living in a beautiful blend of emotions in life. Listen Now.

Tell us about your track

It was a cold winter morning during the 2020 lockdown, I was feeling lost like everybody else at that time and I wrote a song about it. I found the song in the vast uncertainties of life or I guess the song found me or I just wrote it to explain myself (whatever may be the reason) that it’s okay to be lost. It’s more than just a song for me.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

I don’t think this song was inspired by anything. The song just flowed through me. I just remember playing my ukulele and the song was just there all written down in my diary. As far as the production of the song is concerned, at that time all I listened to was ambient music especially Lo-Fi and I wanted to incorporate the Lo-Fi sound in the song. It took me a fair amount of time to experiment with the genre but I’m very happy with the final product.

How long did it take to record the track \album \EP ?

I started producing the song in early December of 2021. It took me almost 3 months to complete the song.

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

This song talks about the feeling being lost and trying to find the real purpose of life. Most people just get on with their lives mindlessly doing things that they don’t really wish to do. But it is okay to be lost and not beat yourself up about it. Sometimes doing nothing makes all the difference.

What brings next after this release?

My next release is about how every individual is unique and one should not give up on themself because they are one in a million. It is coming up soon.
