Tell us about your track

The production for the original song started back in 2020 when we were competing for a 48 hour music making challange. However, we never got to submitting it and decided to bank it and refine it further before the release. After the release we decided to reach out to Vavae and get the remix rolling, over a couple demos we really started digging the vibe and a date was set. Currently we’ve also got an official visualiser in store, just around the corner.

Tell us your inspiration behind this track

The initial draft of the song started way before we dived into the production side of things. It was something that happened on a random afternoon when Atharv was playing the acoustic and it was just the progression and the lyrics. A lot of the musical and sonic aspects shaped up when the two of us formulated ideas over the arrangement. We didn’t really hold back as to how far we could push the boundaries and implemented whatever sonic choices instinctively inspired us from several genres be it electronic, LoFi, rock or pop.

How long did it take to record the track \album \EP ?

The initial, we’d say, 90 percent of the progress was made during the 48 hours of the music making competition. However, we didn’t get to releasing the song until almost over a year after that period. And then spent another month or so meeting up or even remotely refining the track and finishing it up.

What is the meaning behind the lyrics?

The lyrics try to communicate the feelings inside a child growing up and stepping into the real-world, in that slightly less comforting and strange age and coming to terms with having to deal with life on their own for the most part. For a child since the time they are born, the mother assumes the role of the safest place for them to be at. However, as we grow older we discover there are certain aspects of life that need to be addressed and be done so in a rather new and independent way; certain questions that need to be answered by stepping out and venturing into the world. The lyrics talk about these feelings of wander and curiosity etched into human tendencies conflicting with the feelings of vulnerability and fear which are also so.

What brings next after this release?

We feel little deer is a good representation of what we have in store for the future. Our natural tendencies lean towards a more experimental approach when we work on music both individually and as Khoya Firdaus. The two of us have our individual solo projects which are much heavily electronic in comparison to the band and those tendencies are playfully seeping their way into our works as a band as well. The future releases are going to embrace this desire to incorporate multi-genre elements and our tightly knit sense of musical and sonic decisions. Also, the audiences can vouch on seeing us perform live very soon.
